No one likes to work in a filthy office that's why office carpet cleaning should be done by a professional! Commercial offices should always be kept as clean as can be. Commercial buildings withstand a great deal of foot traffic every day, and with the foot traffic comes soil, moisture, and other debris. A good way of maintaining your commercial carpet tile or broadloom carpet clean is by vacuuming at least once a day.

HOW TO KEEP YOUR OFFICE CLEAN!
1. Vacuum at least once a day
2. Pick up before leaving the office
3. Have a professional inspect the carpet once a year
4. Avoid spilling food on your commercial carpet/ carpet tile
5. Always keep in touch with a commercial carpet tile/ commercial carpet dealer company in case of any replacement needs here at Americarpet we offer amazing service.
6. HIRE A COMMERCIAL CLEANING SERVICE!!!

Tips on Decorating Your Small Place

Apartment, condo, or small home it's a breeze to decorate your small space! Don't sweat that you're working with a limited about of square footage, the key is making the most of those precious few square feet! Here are a few things to keep in mind, avoid dark colors/ floors/ accents dark colors just make everything feel smaller. My advice is to stick to pastels, neutrals, and white.

Try accenting your small space with DIY projects, art, and photos. However, be wary of using too many accessories that would make your small space feel over cluttered with nothing but stuff. Here are a few examples I found on PINTEREST!

One of my favorite accessories used in one of the photos has to be the black and white area rug under the coffee table. Personally, I love the feel of a long, shaggy rug under my feet after a long day of work! Plus, the black and white accents from the rug and the graphic art on the wall add a cool and modern feel to this room.

Why Area Rugs Should Not be Cleaned Like Carpets

Area rugs and Oriental rugs are constructed differently than carpet, and therefore require special cleaning techniques. (Photo courtesy of Angie's List member Ellen R. of Indianapolis)
Area rugs and Oriental rugs are constructed differently than carpet, and therefore require special cleaning techniques. (Photo courtesy of Angie's List member Ellen R. of Indianapolis)
Most area rugs, particularly hand-knotted rugs, are made entirely made by hand from all-natural materials. It can take as little as a month to make or up to two years or longer to produce a single handmade rug.
Most household wall-to-wall carpets lend themselves to steam cleaning from a carpet cleaning company because it’s the simplest and fastest way to clean them and make sure they dry quickly. Especially when dealing with carpets made from nylon, polyester or other plastic-based fibers, steam cleaning is more than adequate.
The majority of area rugs or Oriental rugs are made with wool, a highly complex animal fiber. If you looked at it under a microscope, you can see that wool fibers have scales and hundreds of small crevices that can trap soil. Handmade area rugs are also made entirely of fiber rather than fiber held in place with a backing like carpet. This means that to get a rug 100-percent clean, it must be cleaned all the way through, not just on the surface, which is how steam cleaning carpet is performed.
Area rugs can also be made of many other natural fibers such as silk, cotton, jute or others, which means cleaning an area rug is a custom job every time. Proper rug cleaning cannot be performed by simply running a steam cleaner over the front and back. At best, that type of cleaning would be cosmetic and only temporary; at worst, it could cause irreversible damage.
Your area rugs are a one-of-a-kind investment, so don’t trust their cleaning and care to just anyone. Do your homework and look for a cleaner with the education, experience and expertise to care for your rugs safely and effectively. Two organizations that provide training certifications are The Clean Trust, formerly known as the Institute of Inspection, Cleaning and Restoration Certification or IICRC, and Master Rug Cleaner. Both organizations' websites list those individuals who have completed their training programs.

Carpet VS Laminate for your bedroom.

Frankly it's going to come down to your personal preference. Some people prefer to feel the cool wood under their feet, and the lustrous accents wood adds to a room. Whereas others prefer to feel the long loop pile fill in the spaces between their toes and the overall plush look a carpet adds to any room. Again, it's up to you to pick. But here are just a few things to consider when selected the flooring for you bedroom.

Cleaning isn't fun for anyone, at any age. So let's get it over with as soon as possible. Carpet cleaning can be tedious, but here's how it should be done. Now, according to our friends over at, carter's carpet, if you have pets then it would be best to clean your carpets every six to twelve months. On the other hand, if you're a pet-less household with just yourself and maybe another adult, they recommend waiting on the upwards of two years. On the flip side, laminate is much less maintenance than carpet, but it doesn't give you the "warm and fuzzies" like a carpet would. Let's set the record straight, YES you can mop a laminate floor without worrying about it warping! Now, should water be left sitting on the floor i.e. a small puddle of water be left out on the floor, then yes the floor will warm. Moving on, steam cleaning cannot be done on a laminate floor! It is a bad idea because the steam can and will most likely seep in through the cracks between the planks and compress a lot of moisture down there and ultimately cause the floor to warp.

Which of the two is more resistant to heavy furniture; again, it depends. From personal experience, I can say that laminate is very resistant to heavy furniture, whereas, carpet will be left with some indentations. Ultimately it is up to you to decide which you feel would be best for the look and feel you're going for.

I'll leave you on this note, when shopping for flooring come into the store with an open mind and keep in mind what it is you're trying to achieve and how you want your room to look. Just coming into a flooring store to look can be very overwhelming. Which is why I highly recommend checking out our website to get a better idea of what you would like to see in your bedroom, or any room for that matter!

Different Types of Residential Carpet

Plush Carpet: The bestselling type of carpet is cut pile. Cutting looped carpet fibers at the top creates cut pile with yarn bundles and standing straight. Cut pile is less resistant to crushing than other types of carpet.

Berber Carpet: This type is increasing in popularity faster than any other type of carpet. Berbers limit footprints and vacuum tracks in informal areas. Berbers can have thicker yarns thank other level loop pile carpets for high durability. These loops can retain dirt and may be damaged from snags.

Frieze Carpet: These are highly twisted cut pile carpet suited for high traffic, informal areas. It has short fibers that tend to curl in different directions at the surface to hide footprints and vacuum marks.

Cut and Looped Pile Carpet: This type of carpet combines cut & looped fibers together. It provides a variety of surface textures or sculptured effects for medium durability. Cut and looped pile carpet are available in many different type of colors. The different levels in this carpet can help hide dirt and footprints. 2a.

Today's Carpet Trends

Today's Carpet Trends
When the choices in carpet were limited to basic beige, designers treated it more often than not as a neutral background for room furnishings. Now, with numerous textures, patterns, and colors available at Americarpet, carpet is emerging as the focal point in some interior designs. The need for neutral carpet has not gone away. Berber is still a popular choice. But unlike the plain Berbers of the early 1990s, today's versions have more texture and pattern. Even the more traditional Berbers offer more visual interest with more extreme differences in pile cut and thicker, deeper loop textures.

Color sprinkled against a neutral background adds interest and dimension while it helps mask spots and spills. Flecks of color are now appearing against tan, beige, and cream backgrounds as well as in the "new neutrals" of soft greens, pale yellows, and shades of blue. A major shift in new products is toward layered color and soft texture in carpet. A combination of texture and pattern will always be popular because it minimizes soil and vacuum marks. But the other advantage is that color and texture offer more distinctive styling and fashion appeal. 2a.

Why Do Businesses Use Carpet Tile?

ADVANTAGES OF CARPET TILE

Why Choose Carpet Tiles?

Carpet tiles made their debut and were originally developed for homes as a hardwearing alternative to traditional broadloom carpet. Carpet tiles offer many advantages over traditional broadloom and make designing your own floor scheme easy. Recently there have been some great new designs introduced. Interior designers, makeover programs and interior magazines are increasingly presenting carpet tiles as a new design trend
Advantages of Carpet Tiles
  • Easy to install.
  • Easy to transport – boxes to fit in the back of your car.
  • Easy to lay on top of laminate/vinyl/concrete with no need for underlay.
  • Easy to fit in awkward shaped rooms.
  • Easy to clean and if a tile is damaged, you can simply replace the tile rather than the whole floor.
  • Easy to lift and take with you if you move home, particularly if you are renting.
  • Installations can be done in small areas or temporarily – you can even work around the furniture rather than empty the whole room.
Cost Effectiveness

Carpet tiles include a strong backing so they require no underlay or adhesives and produce less waste than other flooring types, particularly in awkward shaped rooms. This saves time and money and because carpet tiles are fairly easy to install, you can lay them yourself and save the cost of professional fitting. Any damage or spills can be resolved by replacing one tile rather than the entire floor, which is reassuring and overall means carpet tiles are definitely a cost effective flooring option.
Cleaning and Maintenance of Carpet tiles

Regular vacuuming is the best way to deal with everyday dust and dirt. For inevitable spills and accidents it’s best to treat the area as promptly as possible. Scrape up any solids as soon as possible, working from the edges of the spill towards the centre so it doesn't spread.
Excess liquid can be soaked up by placing a thick wad of absorbent paper over the area and pressing firmly.  Sponge clean if required or the tiles can even be lifted and rinsed under the tap.  Normally you can use a mild detergent solution and scrub gently with a brush where necessary, but it is important to remove all traces of the detergent by rinsing.  Use absorbent paper to mop up as much excess moisture as possible, and allow to dry.  If you lift a tile to clean it, you should make sure it is dry before you put it back, but let it dry naturally – don’t put it on a radiator or other artificially hot surface as this may damage the tile.

Carpet Tile Advantages over Commercial Broadloom Carpet

Your workplace not only needs a carpet, the carpet must be of top quality. A superior quality carpet not only enhances the aesthetic beauty of your office, it also reduces noise and prevents accidents. The most common corporate carpets used the broadloom. As the name suggests, the carpet is woven in a very large loom. They usually come in 12-foot wide large rolls and are installed over a carpet pad. The other type of corporate carpet is the carpet tile. They are modular carpet tile, usually square in shape with an integrated base and backing material.

Carpet tiles are more favored in high traffic commercial applications. There are some obvious advantages of carpet tiles over the traditional broadloom carpets.
  • The design possibilities are endless for a modular carpet. Since they come in square shapes, you can produce a checkerboard effect by quarter tuning the carpets, or you can choose two different types of carpets to produce a unique pattern on the floor. All this, without compromising the functional abilities of the flooring.
  •    Installation of carpet tiles are faster than broadloom carpet.
  •  The carpet tiles are easier to maintain. They can be removed and replaced easily. Thus individual tiles can be removed for cleaning and if one of the tile gets damaged, it can be easily replaced. For broadloom, if one part of the carpet gets damaged, you need to replace the whole carpet.
  • Carpet tiles are more environmental friendly in the sense that they produce less waste during installation than broadloom. There is no underlay material to cut and smaller pieces of cut tiles may be used for other areas in the office.
  • When office carpets are being replaced in occupied offices Carpet tiles are highly functional. In this situation, the workstations and furniture are jacked up to allow the installers to install the tiles underneath.

Thus, in spite of the higher cost and more durability, carpet tiles should be favored over broadloom carpets for commercial applications.  1a.

Solution Dyed Nylon Residential Carpet

If you are fed up with your traditional nylon carpets, there is a more sustainable and stain proof alternative in the market – Solution Dyed Nylon Carpets. Hard-wearing and beautiful, these carpets are specifically designed for modern homes with high traffic and pets. Solution dyed nylon carpets are more durable and require less maintenance than their nylon counterparts. Unlike the regular nylon, they are dyed all the way through the fiber. That makes the solution dyed nylon carpets a fade proof long lasting. These carpets would look better on your floor for years, withstanding heavy traffic, spills, furniture and harsh sunlight.

Here are some advantages of using a solution dyed nylon residential carpet:

  •  Stain resistant: In solution dyed nylon carpets, the fibers are not dyed after being spun, rather, the fibers are colored during the production process. This locks the color into the fiber and the spills are unable to attach itself with the fiber to create stains.
  •  High resistance to fading: The parts of the carpet exposed to direct sunlight comes in contact with the harmful UV rays. This causes the color to fade out. But since in solution dyed carpets, the colors go right into the fibers and prevents any discoloration or sun damage. So the carpets retain their color for a long time, unlike their regular nylon counter parts.
  • Easy care: If your carpet fibers have begun to flatten, just give them a steam cleaning (called hot water extraction cleaning in some areas) to rejuvenate the fibers. The steam reactivates the hydrogen atoms in the nylon causing the fibers to bounce back. Thus, a steam cleaning every 12-18 months is necessary for the carpets. Other than this, you need not worry as the carpet is stain resistant and fade proof.
  • Warranty: Since the solution dyed carpets are much more resistant to stains and fading, manufacturers provide more warranty options, so you are not only secured by the next generation carpet, you are protected by its warranty too.

These solution dyed nylon carpets are available in a wide range of colors, designs and textures. This makes them the number 1 choice of interior designers and home owners. If you are looking for long-lasting, premium looks and luxurious softness then Solution Dyed nylon carpets are the thing for you. 2a.

Carpet Made in the U.S.A

A recent study by Consumer Reports, found that customers do in fact care about where their products are made. When these customers are given a choice to pick where they want their products from most of the time they chose from the United States rather than abroad. 60% of many different customers prefer to buy from within the United States and this is usually because of the quality of the products. Also some of these customer say they prefer to pay more money for what they buy then to get them shipped in from abroad, but this is just a few, others unfortunately because of the pricing usually get it shipped in. But something not every American knows is that if every American spent and extra $3.33 on U.S-made products it would create over 10,000 new job opportunities. Also something that is critical is that countries that are ship their materials overseas to the U.S are adding tolls on petroleum usage and increasing unnecessary emission in the atmosphere. This also has to do with the environment, in other Countries the regulation to protect the environment is not enforced as much as here in the United States, this is where pollution in earth takes a huge part of. This guidelines do not exist in other countries which is causing pollution and environmental abuse on earth. When consumers buy American-made products the proceeds remain in the U.S economy. The money spent than pays the workers who directly or indirectly created the products purchased.

Percentage of flooring made in the United States:

  •         Carpet: 45% is made in the United States and 55% is imported from other countries.

We would like to increase the percentages of carpets made in the United States so we could have more people working in the U.S.

Commercial LVT floors

Luxury vinyl tile (LVT) flooring loosely describes a vinyl-based flooring product that closely mimics the look of a natural material through the realistic images and textures. New technologies have yielded a new product that offers striking visuals and performance attributes that often make it a preferred flooring choice to natural materials like hardwood and stone.

The characteristics of LVT include the following:

- Visuals: Luxury vinyl flooring takes on either of two forms: stone (slate, travertine, marble, etc.) or wood. The ability to replicate real hardwood and stone using advanced photographic technologies is LVT's foundation.

- Shapes: One thing that distinguishes LVT from other types of vinyl flooring is the shape of individual pieces. LVT products are usually square, ranging in size from around 12 x 12 to 24 x 24, but are now available in 12 x 24 rectangular and even hexagonal shapes. Moreover, LVT often imitates wood flooring, it comes in standard plank shapes such as 3 x 36, 4.5 x 36 as well as an extra long and wide 7 x 48 size.

- Composition: LVT can be composed of virgin vinyl, recycled content or a vinyl/ limestone mixture. Any wood-look LVT will be made of all vinyl. Stone-look LVT might have some stone composition.

- Construction: LVT construction usually consists of four layers together. From top down:

    1. Finish: An aluminum oxide, urethane or ceramic-based layer prevents light scratching.
    2. Clear film: This layer protects against rips and tears.
    3. Design layer: This is the photo-realistic print of stone or wood.
    4. Core: The bottom layer gives the product structure and solidity.

Ease of maintenance: LVT is basically completely resistant to spills
- scratch and stain resistant
- Durability: 15-20 years of commercial durability.
- There is usually a 10 year commercial warranty on LVT flooring

Energy savings tips for summer.

As many of us know here in South Florida, the summer season is one of many beach days, fun day trips and plenty of heat! It isn't uncommon for our energy usage to double during this time of year. In fact, according to a study released by the EIA (Energy Information Administration), Florida uses central air conditioning units more than any other state in the United States of America. So, what does this mean for the common home owner? It means that if you are a homeowner in Florida, especially South Florida, you might be searching for ways to cut back on your energy usage. Here are a few tips to help with just that, gathered from Duke Energy's 100 ways to save energy article,

·         Switch your ceiling fan to turn in a counter-clockwise direction In the summer; in the winter, run it at low speed, but clockwise.
·         Close your exterior doors and windows tightly when the AC is on. Save even more by turning off kitchen and bath exhaust fans.
·         Change or clean your AC's air filters at least once a month to keep your system running at peak performance.
·         Make sure your AC has a rating – or Seasonal Energy Efficiency Ratio (SEER) – of 15.
·         Make saving automatic: Set your thermostat fan switch to "auto" to save energy. Leaving it in the "on" position keeps air running constantly.
·         Block the sun from overheating your home! Inside, use shades, blinds and drapes. Outside, use awnings, trees and shrubs.
·         Insulate your walls with injected foam insulation to help you save energy by keeping hot outside air from seeping through porous block walls – check with your local building supply company for details.
·         Give your AC tune-up. Running an inefficient AC system can result in high monthly bills.
·         Open interior doors so that cooled air flows freely throughout your home.
·         Repair leaky ducts to reduce heating and cooling costs
·         Install attic insulation rated R-30 and sealing any attic leaks to reduce high home cooling costs.

·         Check for household leaks to make sure air isn't escaping through openings such as fireplace dampers, doors and windows.1a
